Honestly… I kind of get it.
If Comfort+ is completely packed and there’s a nice empty row in the back, that’s basically domestic first class in economy form. I’d take three seats to myself over a couple inches of extra legroom any day.
The fact that the agent was surprised makes it even better. Everyone assumes upgrades only go one direction.
