Arriving early in Europe. Book the night before or just push through?

Flying from the US to Munich for our first Europe trip with family. Red-eye leaves around 5:30 pm EST and we land at 8:30 am CET. Realistically, I don’t expect much sleep on the plane, and our hotel likely won’t have rooms ready until 3 or 4 pm.

Debating whether it’s worth booking the room for the night before so we can check in right away, shower, maybe nap for a bit. It’s extra cost, but also wondering if it’ll save the first day from being a total write-off.

For those who’ve done this, is it worth it? Or are there better strategies for handling that first jet-lagged day, especially with family in tow?
