That’s a tight one.
You’d land at 9:20, but that’s wheels down. By the time you taxi, deplane, and wait for bags, it could easily be 9:45 or later before you’re actually walking out of baggage claim.
Then you have to get from the AA terminal to TBIT (or wherever United is operating), recheck your bag, and go through security again. International check in cutoffs are usually 60 minutes before departure, sometimes more depending on the route.
For an 11:30 departure, that means you likely need to have your bag checked by 10:30 at the latest. That gives you roughly an hour from scheduled arrival to land, deplane, get bags, and move terminals. With zero delay.
If everything runs perfectly, maybe. But any small delay and you’re in trouble.
Personally, on separate tickets with checked bags at LAX, I’d want at least 3 hours. Two hours is already stressful.
This feels risky unless you’re willing to potentially buy a new international ticket.
