I’ve been using Marriott Bonvoy Nightly Upgrade Awards (NUAs) quite a bit this year, but I have yet to get a single one approved.
I’ve tried both short and long stays, weekdays and weekends, across different brands, and every request has been declined so far. My most recent attempt was for a one-night stay where the hotel clearly still had standard availability, but the NUA request was denied about four days before check-in.
At this point I’m wondering if there are any hotels or brands where NUAs are actually more likely to be accepted, or if anyone has found specific properties that tend to approve them more consistently.
Are there any patterns, strategies, or “best chance” types of stays that actually improve success rates?
Any insights from people who have had success would be appreciated.
