I feel like the Citi Strata Elite rollout both from a product and application experience standpoint is a mixed bag. On one hand, it’s exciting to see Citi finally entering the premium travel card market with competitive perks, especially the 100,000-point bonus if you apply in-branch. The card has potential.
On the other hand, the in-branch application process seems awkwardly dated. Having to state personal details aloud, and dealing with unrelated small talk, detracts from what should be a polished, premium experience. Add to that the issue with not capturing the AAdvantage number correctly, and it leaves you wondering how smooth the customer service will be post-approval.
Overall, intrigued by the rewards, but mildly frustrated by the execution.
