Anyone else surprised by Toronto's traffic? US tourist's experience matches mine!

This caught my attention while browsing travel updates. As someone who's visited Toronto multiple times, I had to chuckle at this US tourist's shock about the traffic situation. My first visit was exactly the same, I remember thinking I'd easily get from downtown to the CN Tower in 10 minutes, but ended up spending almost an hour in gridlock! Coming from Chicago, I thought I knew traffic, but Toronto really caught me off guard.

I think it's interesting how we often overlook researching basic things like traffic patterns when visiting new cities. Toronto's congestion is actually pretty notorious among locals, but many travel guides don't emphasize this enough. It definitely changes how you need to plan your day, and I've learned to either use public transit or add significant buffer time to my itineraries when visiting.

What are your thoughts on this? Have you experienced similar surprises with traffic in cities you've visited?
