I’m 21 and heading to NYC next week for a trip I’ve been planning since October. My friend who was supposed to come can’t go anymore, but I decided to still go solo. The thing is… I told my parents I’d be going with her.
They’re immigrant parents and super protective only child problems so I know they’d never be okay with me going alone, especially to “dangerous” NYC. I’m funding the whole trip myself and see it as a reward before starting med school.
I’ve traveled solo before for interviews and feel confident about it, but the guilt/anxiety is creeping in. Has anyone else kept a solo trip from their parents? How did it go?
