I’ve seen several discussions about the Barclays to Citi AAdvantage transition, but I haven’t found anyone with the exact issue I’m dealing with.
I received the Citi welcome email back in March with instructions to wait for my new card following the April transition. I waited, but the card never arrived.
After multiple calls to both banks, Citi told me they never received my account information from Barclays. Barclays, on the other hand, said my account was not eligible for transfer, but they couldn’t explain why. Instead, my AAdvantage card was apparently product changed into a different Barclays credit product without any notification.
The account was always in good standing with no missed payments, so the whole situation has been confusing. Now I’m left without the Citi card I expected to receive and with a Barclays card that I never intended to keep.
Has anyone else experienced a failed transfer during this transition? I’m especially interested in hearing from anyone who received the Citi welcome email but never actually received a new card, or anyone who was excluded from the transfer process without a clear explanation.
