Just saw that two United planes clipped wings during pushback at SFO. Flight 863 to Sydney and Flight 877 to Hong Kong. It happened around 12:35 a.m. in an area where air traffic control doesn't directly communicate with flight crews. No injuries, thankfully, but this is starting to feel like a pattern. There was a similar incident at Reagan National just a few weeks ago. Between tight gate spaces, staffing shortages, and outdated infrastructure, it seems like these ground mishaps are becoming more common I fly through SFO often, and while the airport is usually efficient, these incidents are concerning. Is it time for a serious look at ground operations and safety protocols?
Another wingtip collision at SFO,what’s going on with United’s ground ops?
