Just got word that Rover’s Run, Viewpoint, and Salmon Run trails in Anchorage are temporarily shut due to increased brown bear activity. I was planning to hit one of these this weekend now thinking twice! Apparently, Campbell Creek's salmon run is drawing bears closer to the paths.
Honestly, I love hiking around Anchorage, but after hearing about two bear attacks in the past couple weeks, I’m getting a little jittery. Has anyone else had a close encounter on these trails? Would you still go if it was open, or is it better to play it safe and stay clear?
