ANA domestic First Class vs. United, a whole different league

I flew ANA domestic first on a 2.5-hour daytime flight and wow. I mostly fly United in the U.S. and Lufthansa around Europe, so I didn’t expect much. But the cardboard meal box was surprisingly legit tasty, thoughtful, and well-presented. No stroopwafels in sight, but I didn’t miss them.

Beyond the food, what really stood out was the service. Even on this short hop, ANA’s cabin crew was constantly checking in, the presentation was elegant even with paper cups, and everything felt intentional. Makes you realize how different the approach is U.S. carriers treat domestic first as economy plus, while ANA builds theirs around hospitality.
