Amtrak’s new Acela trains finally in service

The first Avelia Liberty sets just entered service on Aug 28. These are the long-delayed replacements for the 20-year-old Acela fleet — built by Alstom in Hornell, NY.

They’ve got 27% more seats, tilting tech for curves, and a higher top speed (160 mph vs 150 before). The old Acela sets launched in 2000, so it’s about time.
