Amex Travel Portal keeps failing on hotel bookings

Tried booking InterContinental Miami through Amex Hotel Collection checkout kept failing with “room sold out.” Even customer service couldn’t get it through. Switched to a different room type, same error.


Now I’ve got multiple pending charges for stays that never booked. Happened to me before with a NY hotel too. Honestly, if I have to book direct anyway, what’s the point of this Platinum “perk”?
