I prepaid an FHR/THC hotel, got the $300 Amex Platinum credit, then canceled the stay back in October. With the year almost over, I reached out to Amex assuming the credit would get clawed back.
Instead, they told me they review overall eligible spending on the account across the current and previous two semi annual periods, and based on that, the credit wasn’t reversed.
I’m not complaining, just genuinely curious. Has anyone else gotten a similar explanation or know why Amex does it this way? Is this normal or just one of those Amex quirks?
