With the recent changes to the Amex Flying Blue cards, I’m seriously reconsidering keeping mine. Fees are going up and most of the benefits feel weaker than before.
I’m Platinum in Flying Blue, so a lot of the “perks” on the Essential card are basically useless. The XP earning getting cut from 60 to 30 on the Platinum card also hurts. At this point the only thing really keeping me is the insurance coverage.
Curious what others are doing. Did you cancel, ask for a retention offer, or switch to another card entirely? Anyone actually get a decent retention offer out of Amex?
