My friend and I are traveling next month for a golf trip and noticed very different upgrade prices on American Airlines.
Initially, both of us were shown very high paid upgrade offers, which we declined. Later, my friend’s upgrade prices suddenly dropped significantly when checked again on the website, while mine remained much higher on both the app and website. He is a lower-tier status member than I am, which makes the difference even more confusing.
We compared offers at the same time, and his total upgrade cost was much lower than mine despite similar availability in the cabin. I am questioning why there is such a large pricing difference between two passengers on the same route, especially given loyalty status.
Even more unusual, the first class cabin appears to have very few seats occupied, yet the upgrade price remains high in my case.
