Hello,
I want to share a simple travel practice that has repeatedly helped me avoid complications: always carry printed hard copies of your confirmed flight and accommodation bookings.
In an increasingly digital travel environment, most people rely entirely on airline apps, emails, or screenshots stored on their phones. However, digital records can sometimes cause issues if there are last-minute changes, system mismatches, or limited connectivity when you need to verify details quickly.
I personally print all confirmations, including flight itineraries, hotel bookings, and even e-visa documents, and keep them in a folder.
This approach proved useful during a recent trip to Argentina. I arrived at Aeroparque Jorge Newbery (AEP) expecting my scheduled flight, only to be informed that the airline had changed my booking to an earlier departure from Ezeiza (EZE) without notifying me. This would have caused me to miss my connecting flight in Santiago.
When I presented my printed itinerary showing the original flight details and seat assignment, the check-in staff was able to verify the discrepancy more easily. They confirmed there had been an internal airline error and coordinated a solution through their office. As a result, I was rebooked onto an alternative route that allowed me to continue my journey, including accommodation assistance for the overnight delay.
I also carry digital screenshots as backup, but printed copies provide an additional layer of reliability when phones fail, lose battery, or are temporarily unavailable during processing.
While not strictly necessary for every traveler, this “belt and braces” approach has given me added confidence, especially in situations where immediate proof of original booking is important.
