Alta Lake State Park was one of my favorite surprises on a Washington road trip. In just one view, you get pine-covered mountains, rocky desert slopes, and a shimmering blue lake a mix you don’t often see in the Pacific Northwest. It’s only about 3.5 to 4 hours from Seattle, but it feels like a completely different world.
Days here are all about hiking quiet trails, fishing, or renting a kayak from the lakeside shop don’t skip the ice cream afterward. At night, the stargazing is incredible even without Dark Sky status. I camped near the shore and woke up to the lake reflecting the morning peaks.
If you’re looking for a peaceful, scenic spot with both forest and desert vibes, this is it. Would you camp here or just make it a day trip?
