Just spent a few days in Italy and honestly felt more unsafe than I ever have while traveling. In Rome, a guy tried to rob me around midnight near the city center, I had to sprint about 2 km to get away. I wasn’t even carrying cash, just my phone and passport.
Then in Milan, two guys came up after I left a mall with a Dior bag, asked if I spoke English, then walked off. Pretty sure they were scouting. I even saw cars with smashed windows all over.
I’ve been to plenty of cities solo and never felt like this. Did I just get super unlucky, or is this becoming common in Italy?
