Fly with my little poodle mix all the time and never had an issue. At IAD this morning, the Red Coat named Joseph told me I couldn’t bring her home because she “couldn’t stand fully upright” in her carrier. She’s within Delta’s size limits, can turn around, and has flown dozens of times. I asked him how he expected us to get home.
While I was on the phone with Platinum support and my husband was literally about to book a backup flight on Alaska, Joseph suddenly came back right at the baggage cutoff and said “oh, I didn’t know it was a return flight, you’re fine.”
Then in the security line we met a pregnant woman who’d been stopped by the same guy. Her dog was asleep in the carrier so he said it didn’t count as showing he could stand. She had to call her parents to come get the dog and now has no idea how she’ll get him back, especially with her husband just getting home from deployment.
Honestly just beware checking in pets at IAD on Delta. This guy seems to be making up his own rules.
