I am currently on a Royal Caribbean cruise and there is some confusion regarding an alcohol ban in Nassau today due to elections.
From what I understand, alcohol sales have been prohibited across the island, including at Royal Beach Club. However, Royal Caribbean still sold unlimited drink packages for the beach club and did not appear to notify guests in advance of the restriction.
Passengers are still being tendered ashore and are only finding out about the ban after arriving. There have been no clear announcements onboard so far, although other cruise lines reportedly informed their guests earlier in the morning.
Main concern:
There seems to be a lack of communication between the cruise line and guests regarding what is actually available in port today, especially after drink packages were sold as normal.
Has anyone experienced something similar with port restrictions affecting onboard purchases or shore excursions? How are cruise lines usually expected to handle last minute local policy changes like this?
