Just got a pretty brutal schedule change from Alaska and trying to figure out what my options are.
We booked a nonstop flight to Puerto Vallarta for a family trip in a couple weeks. It was supposed to be about a 5 hour direct flight. Now Alaska emailed saying the flight changed and the new routing is over 20 hours with multiple stops.
Traveling with 3 young kids, so a 20 hour travel day basically ruins the whole point of the trip.
I noticed Delta still has a nonstop around the same time and it got me wondering how Alaska usually handles this kind of change. Do they ever move people to another airline when they cancel a direct flight? Or is it basically take the new routing or get a refund?
