Alaska Airlines Pauses Flights Amid Tsunami Advisory, Glad They Let Us Rebook Easily

Flying out to Hawaii this week? Heads up, Alaska Airlines paused some departures after that massive 8.8 quake near Russia triggered a tsunami advisory. My flight from Seattle was delayed late Tuesday, and I got a rebooking email at 2 AM. Props to Alaska for rolling out a flexible travel policy so fast. I was able to rebook for later this week with no fees. They’re even allowing full refunds or credits, which is rare.

That said, I feel for folks with kids or pets in checked baggage there are extra restrictions for them. If you’re flying soon, double-check your status and be flexible. Has anyone else been impacted? How did your airline handle it?
