I have noticed that miles from Alaska Airlines are extremely valuable compared to other loyalty programs.
For example, award flights like Helsinki to Edinburgh cost around 7,500 miles, Washington DC to Dallas can be as low as 4,500 miles, and even longer routes such as Hong Kong to Phuket are around 7,500 miles. Many of these bookings also require very low cash fees.
Compared to other airline reward systems, these redemption rates seem significantly cheaper, sometimes less than half the cost.
I am curious why the pricing is so good and whether it will continue. There are also many credit cards offering large signup bonuses, which makes it even easier to accumulate miles quickly.
