Airport taxis in Egypt and Jordan are doable, but plan them in advance

If you’re traveling solo as a woman, I’d strongly recommend pre booking transfers for both Egypt and Jordan, especially on arrival. Not because it’s unsafe in a dramatic way, but because airport taxi situations can be chaotic and tiring, and you’ll get targeted for upselling the moment you walk out.

In Egypt, Uber works in Cairo and is usually the easiest and least stressful option if your arrival time lines up. Otherwise, hotel arranged transfers are worth the extra cost just to avoid negotiating. Random airport taxis are where most bad experiences happen.

In Jordan, it’s more straightforward. The airport taxi system in Amman is more regulated, but a pre arranged transfer still gives peace of mind. Many hotels and tour companies offer fixed price pickups.

You’ll probably be fine either way, but arriving tired, alone, and new to the country is when things feel hardest. Having a driver waiting with your name removes a lot of stress right away.
