Airline moved me out of my extra-legroom seat, what should I expect?

Booked an extra-legroom seat months ago, and just got an email saying I’ve been moved to a middle seat with no legroom. Called the airline and they told me to check at the desk before boarding, and they’ll “try to fix it.”

Has anyone dealt with this before? Do they actually sort it out at the airport?
