Airbnb host asking me to cancel, what should I do?

Booked an Airbnb in Jodhpur for November. A few days ago the host called and asked me to cancel because of “issues.” He refused to cancel himself, saying it would hurt his rating, and promised he’d refund me in November once he gets the payout. Total red flag.


Airbnb told me if I cancel, I don’t get a full refund, it only works if the host cancels. Now he’s ghosting me, and prices for November are climbing.


Anyone deal with this before? Any way to push Airbnb to step in, or should I just cut my losses and rebook now?
