Looking for some advice on an Airbnb situation in Ontario, Canada.
My host messaged me asking me to cancel the reservation, but from what I understand hosts usually ask for that because they get penalized if they cancel themselves.
In the past when a host canceled on me, Airbnb gave me a small credit and helped rebook. Because of that, I’m a bit suspicious about canceling on my end.
My stay is supposed to start next Thursday, so timing is getting tight. I’m worried that if I cancel I could lose protections or end up paying more to find another place.
Has anyone dealt with this before? Is there any real risk if I refuse to cancel and make the host cancel instead?
