I’m sharing my experience in case others face something similar. I had an issue with Air India, and their initial response was inaccurate and didn’t reflect what actually happened.
To clarify the situation, I submitted a Subject Access Request (SAR) under UK GDPR to obtain all personal data they hold about me. However, they did not respond to the request.
I escalated the matter to the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO), which contacted Air India multiple times and issued warnings requesting that they comply. Despite this, Air India still failed to respond.
The ICO informed me that while they would continue following up, they cannot always enforce compliance fully, and if the company still does not provide the data, the only remaining option would be to pursue the matter through the courts.
In summary, my data request was ignored by the airline, ignored even after regulatory intervention, and now legal action appears to be the only way forward.
I’m sharing this as a warning for anyone considering submitting a SAR be prepared for possible delays, non-compliance, and the need to escalate further if necessary.
