I want to warn others about a serious issue I’m dealing with involving Air France–KLM refunds.
I fly business class frequently and recently ended up in a situation where nearly $16k in refunds is missing, while I also had to pay another $10,630 out of pocket to rebook tickets that had already been paid for. In total, I currently have about $26,500 tied up.
It started in January when I called to follow up on a refund that was already overdue. During that call, something triggered a “batch refund” action that cancelled two confirmed business class bookings for upcoming trips. The only option I was given was to pay again or lose the flights, so I paid to reinstate them with the promise the original refund would arrive soon.
It never did.
Since then I’ve spent over 15 hours on the phone and contacted their executive team, but the money still hasn’t been returned. My bank has already confirmed I have grounds to dispute the charges, but filing a chargeback could result in my account being locked and my future tickets cancelled, so I’m stuck waiting.
While researching, I also found many similar complaints online about delayed refunds, partial tax-only refunds that close cases, support emails bouncing back, and agents repeatedly resetting refund cases during calls.
At this point I’m preparing to file a formal regulatory complaint. If anyone else has had similar issues with cancelled tickets or missing refunds from Air France–KLM, I’d be interested to hear about it.
