Aeroflot has officially cancelled plans to operate Sukhoi Superjet 100s and Tupolev Tu‑214 aircraft. Instead, the airline is redirecting its focus to the Yakovlev MC‑21, set to become its new flagship domestic airliner. This shift responds to ongoing technical issues and reliability concerns with the SSJ‑100.
The decision is part of a broader fleet rationalization driven by sanctions and operational strategy. MC‑21 deliveries are anticipated to begin in 2025–2026, aligning with Aeroflot’s modernization efforts. The move enhances efficiency and supports Russia’s ambition to boost its domestic aircraft manufacturing.
