Access to adjacent rooms for family and Plus package question

I’m cruising with family and we have two adjacent (non-connecting) cabins one with me, my daughter-in-law, and granddaughter, and the other with my son and grandson. I’ve heard Guest Services can program the Medallion® so family members can open both cabins.

My daughter-in-law and I both have the Princess Plus package. If our Medallions are set up for access to both rooms, does that affect the Plus package? Would my son and grandson also need to buy the Plus package because of the shared room access?
