Flew from Manchester to Salzburg and had an unusual landing experience.
About 10 minutes before landing, the flight attendants went through the cabin telling everyone to turn electronics completely off, not just flight mode. They were pretty strict about it and said the pilot wouldn’t be able to land if devices stayed on.
Then, just as the plane was descending toward the runway, the engines suddenly powered up and the aircraft climbed back up and started circling the mountains. About 15 minutes later the plane came back around and landed normally.
The only announcement was that the pilot had decided not to land at that time, with no further explanation.
