AA vs S.Aero mismatch is stressful but pretty normal

Yeah, this situation makes everyone nervous the first time. S.Aero is great, but it’s not perfect and it doesn’t always show the same inventory AA does, especially close in or with dynamically priced awards.


If AA’s own site is letting you get all the way to passenger details using miles, that’s usually the strongest signal the space is real. The danger zone is transferring points before you’ve confirmed that screen. Once Citi points move, they’re stuck.


What people usually do is keep clicking through on AA until the final pricing page with taxes and fees. If it still shows as bookable there, chances are very good it’ll ticket once you transfer. S.Aero being empty while AA shows space happens more often than you’d expect.


It’s not zero risk, but AA’s site beats third party tools when it comes to what’s actually available right now.
