This one really stuck with me. Pilot tried to hold the plane in Dallas for about ten passengers with tight connections. Came on the intercom, thanked everyone for being patient. No drama, no complaints from the cabin.
Then a couple minutes later he gets back on and says he’s being told he has to go immediately. Can’t wait any longer.
And then he straight up apologizes. Not just for leaving, but for the way American treats its passengers, and says we deserve better.
You almost never hear that kind of honesty over the PA. Says a lot about the pressure pilots are under and how little flexibility they’re given. Also says a lot that passengers weren’t upset, most of us get it and have been on the other side of that connection before.
Hard not to respect a pilot who’s willing to say that out loud.
