I need help understanding what is happening with my American Airlines reservation because I am getting conflicting and confusing information.
I booked a round-trip flight for my family with a departure date of July 7, 2026, and a return on July 14, 2026. However, on June 8, 2026, I received a cancellation notice saying the reservation was cancelled for “no show,” even though the flight has not even occurred yet.
When I called American Airlines, the agent repeated the “no show” reason and even asked if we had been at the airport. I had to clarify that the departure date is July 7, not June 7, and that no travel has happened yet.
So far, I have been told the following:
Phone support says it was cancelled as a “no show” but cannot explain further and directed me to email revenue.protection@aa.com
Chat support says the reservation is under investigation and they also cannot provide details, only repeating that I should contact the same email team
I have already emailed the revenue protection team, but I have not received a resolution yet. I would prefer to speak to someone by phone who can actually resolve this, especially since fares on the same route have increased significantly and rebooking would cost much more for a group of up to five people.
My main concerns are:
What does “under investigation” usually mean in cases like this
Has anyone dealt with AA Revenue Protection before and how long it takes
Is there a way to escalate this beyond email support or reach a team that can actually fix the reservation
Any guidance would be appreciated because we just want to keep our original booking and travel as planned.
