Currently staying in an 8-bed female dorm in Southeast Asia. It’s been chill all week with just a few adult women sharing the space, but when I came back today, there was a mom and her daughter (probably around 5–7 years old) settling into one of the beds.
It threw me off, not because they’re doing anything wrong, but because I’ve stayed in over 100 hostels and have never seen a child in a dorm before. The vibe here isn’t exactly family-friendly either, with a bar and a NYE party happening downstairs.
No one else seems bothered, and I have no intention of complaining, I’m just genuinely curious: is this common? Would this weird you out too, or am I overthinking it?
