I just spent the weekend at Johnson’s Beach in Guerneville and wow, I had no idea this kind of beach existed in California. It's 14 miles from the actual coast, tucked along the Russian River and surrounded by forest, but it’s got sandy shores, canoe and tube rentals, and some serious summer vibes.
We floated the river, grabbed snacks from the bar, and even saw kids playing in the kiddie pond. It felt like a retro summer camp for all ages.
Instead of driving home, we stayed overnight in one of their cute little cabins with a mini kitchen and fire pit highly recommend. They also have old-school bungalows and canvas tents if you want a different vibe.
If you’re over the crowded coast and want a relaxing escape with nature and water, this is the place. Has anyone else chilled here or done a float trip nearby?
