90 minute wait at DOH passport control - messy lines, card machine down

Landed at HIA and got bounced from New Visa to a GCC counter, then sent to a “special cases” lane when the card machine died. No one was managing the queue so people kept getting dropped in front. Whole thing took about 90 minutes. First visit to Qatar and this part was rough. If you’re arriving soon, pick the busiest staffed line, stick to it, and ask an officer where to stand if they redirect you so you don’t get stuck in the overflow lane again.
