Based in the UK so Hyatt points are slow to earn for me. No credit cards, no easy transfer partners. I’ve been slowly stacking points for about two years while traveling, and my girlfriend has always rolled her eyes at my obsession with points and hotel chains.
Today that changed. Booked the Hyatt Regency Cape Town for 5,000 points a night. Cash rate for the same dates was £330 plus, roughly $450. That was a fun moment to call her over and brag a little. She was actually impressed for once.
I also burned a Club Lounge Access Award to make it easier, even though it’s more of a quiet area with evening snacks than a full lounge. Still feels like a massive win for the points hoard.
Might post a quick review after the stay if it lives up to the redemption.
