Took a sabbatical and finally did the trip I’d dreamed of since playing Fallout and Red Dead Redemption. Four months across the Southwest, an Alaska cruise, three weeks in Japan, and two months exploring CO, WY, SD, MT, Alberta, and the Pacific Coast 37 U.S. national parks and 3 in Canada.
Mostly camped, sometimes grabbed a hotel. Saw deserts, snow, forests, and tundra all in one trip. The Southwest completely changed me, and the Canadian Rockies might be the most beautiful place on Earth.
Got obsessed with geology, astronomy, and history everything from Pueblo cultures to the Gold Rush. Also realized how kind people can be, depending on the state.
South Dakota and New Mexico? Criminally underrated.
This trip honestly changed my life. I’m so grateful I got to do it.
