Arriving international at T7 around 11am, then need to get to T4 for a 2pm domestic flight. Separate tickets.
So it’s: immigration, customs, collect luggage, AirTrain to T4, recheck bag, security again.
Last year I had 4 hours and only a carry on and it was fine. This time I’ll have checked luggage and now only 3 hours because the domestic flight moved 1 hour earlier.
On paper it feels tight, especially since it’s a separate reservation so no protection if I miss it.
For anyone who’s done this recently at JFK, is 3 hours realistic in summer? Or is that asking for stress and a potential misconnect?
I can switch to a later flight to a farther airport, which isn’t ideal. Trying to decide if I should just play it safe.
