$2k budget, 9 days, leaving from Houston, where would you go?

Two of us, leaving from Houston mid-March with about $2k to spend. We’ve got a car, camping gear, and love hiking and outdoorsy stuff.

Figuring we’ll stay in the continental US just not sure where to aim for. Any favorite national parks or scenic routes that fit this kind of trip?
