Stayed at SHS by COS airport Tuesday night. At check in I asked for a 3pm checkout. Front desk guy tells me it’s a $25 fee for late checkout.
He immediately follows it with “I know, I see you’re Platinum Elite and you do get late checkout, but my boss requires we charge $25.” I didn’t take it out on him, clearly not his call, but I passed on that real quick.
I’ve asked for late checkout on probably 90% of my stays. I’ve been denied 4pm before, or told it’s not available, which is fine. But I’ve never once been asked to pay for it, and I’ve never even heard of that happening.
Is this some new thing? Feels like a revenue grab now that they can’t nickel and dime parking as easily. Especially funny considering they’re still rocking a 32 inch TV with DirecTV and weak breakfast options.
Edit: Marriott support emailed me back and said they’re adding 10k points to my account, which is more than I expected. Appreciate that, but I’d really like to know the property was actually corrected. Curious if others have seen this and complained too.
