About a month ago, Rio Las Vegas offered a promotion that included a $25 daily food and beverage credit. As a Hyatt Globalist member, I booked the offer after confirming the details with the hotel.
Before making the reservation, I both called and emailed the property to verify where the credit could be used. On both occasions, I was told it would be valid at nearly all food and beverage outlets except for Wetzel’s Pretzels, Smashburger, and retail purchases.
However, when I checked in, I was informed that the credit could only be used at Kitchen Table and that it was never intended to apply property-wide. After explaining that I had confirmed the promotion in advance, the VIP front desk was able to add a note to my reservation and accommodate the credit.
A friend staying at the hotel using my Guest of Honor benefit was not as fortunate. They were initially denied use of the credit outside Kitchen Table and had to escalate the issue. After speaking with a manager the following day, the hotel eventually honored the promotion.
I wanted to share this experience so others are aware that redeeming the credit may require additional discussion with hotel staff, even if they were previously told different terms.
