I am traveling from the USA to SGN on Air India in business class and have a 23-hour layover at DEL (Delhi).
I have access to the new Air India lounge and the premium lounge facilities, and my original plan was to use the lounge on arrival, leave the airport to explore the city with a driver, and then return later at night to rest, shower, and use the lounge again before my onward flight.
However, I’ve been told conflicting information that DEL may not allow re-entry into the terminal if I leave during a long layover, or that I would need to wait until a certain time window (possibly only a few hours before departure). I’ve also been advised that I may need to book a hotel instead if I leave the airport, which I’m trying to avoid.
My questions are:
Is it actually possible to exit and re-enter DEL airport during a 23-hour layover on the same ticket?
Is there a minimum time window required before departure to re-enter the terminal?
Has anyone successfully done something similar recently at Delhi Airport?
I just want to avoid getting stuck outside the airport or risking missing my onward flight.
Any real experiences or clarity would be really helpful.
