Looking at Tokyo to Boston with a 20 hour layover in Hong Kong this summer. Planning to go into the city and probably do some serious shopping.
We’re a family of 4 and each ticket includes 1 checked bag. Out of Tokyo we’ll likely only check 2 bags total, so technically we’d have unused allowance.
If we buy bulky stuff in HK and need an extra suitcase, can we check that at the Cathay counter in Hong Kong through to Boston without extra charge? Or does the unused allowance from Tokyo not really work like that?
Anyone done something similar on a long layover?
