Quick DEN to DSM hop this morning and honestly I’m reconsidering my loyalty.
There was a ground stop because of wind. Wind. As if ATC wouldn’t immediately clear the skies knowing a 1K was onboard. I asked the gate agent about departure time and she didn’t greet me by name, thank me for my service, or present a chilled bottle of Dom Pérignon. Standards are slipping.
Headed to the lounge. Not greeted personally at the escalator. Had to show credentials. I’m 1K. Where is the red carpet? The caviar situation was dire. No Almas. Flatware was tragically not Christofle. I powered through.
Back to the gate. No Maybach transfer. The boarding crowd did not part like the Red Sea. No announcement acknowledging my presence. Deeply troubling.
Onboard in First, and my seat was not prewarmed. The FA did not bow. Shoe shining services were somehow “not available.” I politely reminded them of my 1K status. Still nothing.
We land in DSM and I look outside. Zero palm trees. Not even one.
I’m 1K. I expect at least basic climate control and tropical landscaping at every destination.
