$115k per toilet at an airport… am I missing something?

Kota Kinabalu International Airport just announced a RM11.8m renovation to refurbish 26 restrooms.

That works out to roughly:

RM450k per toilet

About USD $3 million total

Around $115k per restroom

I get that airport projects come with layers of regulation, security requirements, contractors, and compliance costs. But this still feels… wild. Are these toilets made of titanium? Gold plumbing? Bulletproof stalls?

Genuinely asking though. If anyone here works in construction, airport ops, or public infrastructure, where does this kind of money actually go? Is this normal for airport renovations, or does this feel inflated to you too?

Would love an explanation because on the surface this sounds absurd.
