My parents and I are flying from Rome to Mumbai via Istanbul with Turkish Airlines on a single booking, and we currently have a 1-hour layover.
There is an option to switch to a 5-hour layover, but that would cut into our already short time in Rome. I’m considering sticking with the 1-hour connection, especially if we use wheelchair and transit assistance.
I have a few questions:
If the first flight is on time but we still miss the connection due to the short layover, will the airline rebook us?
Is there a shortcut to the departure gates, and can we access it? Does it significantly reduce walking time?
Will we deboard via jet bridge or bus, which might take longer?
Do we need to go through passport control and security again during transit?
Any advice would be appreciated.
